Knowledge of the Father

Greetings and good morning brothers and sisters. This is Dr. James Perry continuing with our series where we seek to explore the deeper meanings of our relationship with Jesus Christ. Over the years, the heavenly Father has revealed many revelations of spiritual truth to me, and I want to share them with you. This morning we will ponder our lives as we seek to understand how we obtain knowledge of the Father.

And now, sit back and listen to today's message.

Knowledge of the Father

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way the truth and the life: No man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John, Chapter 14, Verse 6.

Brothers and sisters, in today’s broadcast, we explain how we acquire knowledge of the Father, how we come to know him. Before the advent of the divine Son, Jesus on earth, people knew of God, but they did not know him. They saw evidence of his hand in creation; that saw his power, but they did not understand him. They worshiped him, but could not comprehend his character, But when Jesus came into the world, he revealed the Father to mankind. He was the Father incarnate. He declared that he who had seen him had seen the Father; He and His Father were one. He came to clear up the mystery of the relationship between God and us. He revealed that God was our Father, and that we were his sons and daughters, and by coming to him, he would reveal the Father to us. He revealed that the Father is love.

He came to established personal relationships with the Father. The Father invites all of us to come to him through His Son, and learn of him, for the Son is the revelation of the spirit Father. “It is written in the prophets, and they shall all be taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father cometh unto me.” Jesus invites us to come to him. He says, “ Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” By coming to Jesus, we enter the divine rest, where our moral and spiritual energies are renewed.

The technique involved in acquiring knowledge of the Father who is love is not intellectual, but spiritual. Thus every child of the Father regardless of their educational status, their social status, the ethnic status or their racial status, be they rich or poor, bond or free can know the Father. The technique of gaining knowledge of the Father is acquired by wholeheartedly dedicating our selves to doing the Father’s will which is spiritual.

When we dedicate our wills to doing the Father’s will, we allow the Father’s spirit to infuse our souls with its divine influence. And these influences are true, beautiful, good, even love. The fabrics of our souls become transformed into the fabrics of love. As we continue to abide in this love, the fabrics of our souls are woven into the image of His Son, Jesus. The Father is love, and so we acquire knowledge of Him, by becoming like Him as revealed in his Son, Jesus. As we continue to abide in his love, by keeping his commandment to love one another as Jesus loves us, this love is perfected within us. We actually become the knowledge of the heavenly Father through His Son, Jesus. And this is how we know that we are in him, and He is in us. As we continue to walk in the path of love, we become more and like Jesus, and those witnessing this spiritual revelation come to understand that Jesus is like us.

And so we become the sons and daughters of the heavenly Father, sons and daughters of love whereby we reveal this love to each other by loving them as Jesus loves each of us. And this love is the knowledge of the heavenly Father. And so our only purpose spiritually becomes to reveal the Father through His Son, to love one another as we have been loved. And it is by these fruits of the spirit that we demonstrate that we have acquired knowledge of the Father, thus demonstrating that we have become like him and truly know him, for the fruit of the spirit is love, faith, goodness, gentleness, temperance, meekness, long suffering, peace and joy. And these fruit emanate from us throughout all the trials and tribulations of life, even as they emanated from Jesus. The storms of life can not obscure the brilliant light of this love. In fact this light of love shines even brighter during the storms of life as they serve as a backdrop which highlights the light of the Father’s love

Summarizing brothers and sisters, God the Father is a spirit, and manifests himself through His Son, Jesus and by way of the Spirit. We can know God the Father by observing how He is manifested in His Son and by imitating him. And since the Son actually lived as one of us, actually became a human being, we can know Him just like we can know any other human being. With the exercise of our faith, and our dedication to doing the Father’s will as demonstrated by Jesus, we acquire a moral character and spiritual nature like him, thus displaying knowledge of the Father.

This concludes today’s message on understanding how we acquire knowledge of the heavenly Father. We hope you find something in this message to ponder and pray about as you go about your day.

Until next time, this is Dr. James Perry.
