The Father's Footprints
Greetings and good morning brothers and sisters. This is Dr. James Perry continuing with our series where we seek to explore the deeper meanings of our relationship with Jesus Christ. Over the years, the heavenly Father has revealed many revelations of spiritual truth to me, and I want to share them with you. This morning we will ponder our lives as we seek to understand the meaning of walking in the Father's Footprints.
And now, sit back and listen to today's message.
The Father's Footprints
"Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace, and the God of love and peace
shall be with you." Second Corinthians, Chapter 13, Verse 11.
God is love and this reality of divine love is ever present in our souls. It always speaks of what is true, beautiful, and good. As our spiritual journey begins, God's love is experienced as a series of faint footprints. As our journeys progress, the footprints become clearer, winding through our lives like a never-ending thread.
The Father has given us the Comforter--the Spirit of Truth--to guide our souls. Our wholehearted desire to walk in these footprints is evidence that the Spirit of Truth is indeed guiding us--that we have actually begun the eternal spiritual journey to find the Father. The way is narrow, as there is only one set of footprints to walk in. To follow in the Father's footprints is to become like Him. Since the Father is love, the search for the Father is the search for love. The search for love is the search for instructions on how to bestow unconditional love on our brothers and sisters. The less love our brothers and sisters have, the greater is the love need.
As soon as we master the truth of the Father's love, an amazing and astonishing thing happens: we discover that we are given even more truth of His love. But, if we do not act on this truth, no more truth is forthcoming. Indeed, even the truth that we once had is taken away. To him who has, even more is given. To him who has not even that which he thinks he has is taken away. Such a statement means that as we take one step in the Father's footprints, we are empowered to take another, and another, and so on until eternity. Stated another way, the more love we give, the more love we can receive, and the more love we receive, the more we become like the Father who is love. The more we pursue love, the more we perceive the truth, beauty, and goodness of this love.
As we sincerely attempt to live as we conceive Jesus would, we are increasingly assured that the Father is walking beside us, guiding our souls every step of the way towards love, mercy, patience and goodness. The spiritual assurance of following in the footsteps of the Father provides our souls with a superb and sublime consciousness of the Father.
When we walk in the Father's footsteps, we become increasingly perfect even as He is perfect. This concludes today's message on the meaning of walking in Father's footprints. We hope you find something in this message to ponder and pray about as you go about your day. Until next
