The Mystery of the Father's Love

Greetings and good morning brothers and sisters. This is Dr. James Perry continuing with our series
where we seek to explore the deeper meanings of our relationship with Jesus Christ. Over the years,
the heavenly Father has revealed many revelations of spiritual truth to me, and I want to share them
with you. This morning we seek to understand the mystery of the Father's love.

And now, sit back and listen to today's message.

The Mystery of the Father's Love

"Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the
sons of God." First John, Chapter 3, Verse 1.

Brothers and sisters, everyone loves a mystery, but the greatest mystery is the living of our mortal
lives. We never know what comes next, as in a great mystery novel where the solution is only
revealed at the end. Those who read such novels read them with ever increasing anticipation,
experiencing the suspense with great gusto. Few of us ever gain insight as to why we love the
mystery novel. The simple truth is the mystery novel is a small snapshot of the intriguing life that
we ourselves are living, only in our lives the suspense, the ups and downs, are experienced first-hand
and thus are absolutely real.

Because we are experiencing life, we must experience every aspect of it. Not knowing what comes
next makes us alert and stimulates our potentials to unfold. In its early phases this experiential state
causes great anxiety, dread and loathing as well as some unpleasant surprises. This sense of
helplessness soon drives us to seek help from God. And this help is forthcoming. The Father sends
His spirit to live in our minds and souls to guide and direct us, to love us, to reveal to us the truth
of life, the goodness of spiritual values, and the beauty of spiritual meanings. He does this so that
we may conquer ourselves. And like the mystery novel where the story gradually unfolds, so does
the mortal life gradually unveil the truth, beauty, and goodness of the Father's love.

There are two ways of looking at the Father's purpose for gradually revealing His love. First, it is
directly proportional to the slowly growing capacity of our souls to comprehend, appreciate and
realize it. Second, we best adjust to change when it occurs gradually. Consider this: Is it better to
adjust to a new day by experiencing gradual transitions from darkness to light, or is it better to be
suddenly engulfed in light? We should be intrigued by the gradual unfolding of the Father's love.

Since the Father's love is the greatest reality that can be experienced, we should be spellbound with
ever increasing relish as we experience the different ways the Father's love is manifested in our lives.
As we travel through the trials and tribulations of life, the Father travels with us through them, not
only going through the experience with us but also providing just the right manifestation of love that
is needed to sustain, encourage, inspire, grow and ultimately to master the experience. And the
spiritual experiences of life are mastered with love, faith, goodness, trust, patience, mercy and
forgiveness. And this love is like the mystery novel slowly building to a climax.

This concludes today's message on understanding the mystery of the Father's love. We hope you find
something in this message to ponder and pray about as you go about your day. Until next time, this
is Dr. James Perry.
