The Role of the  Body and Mind in the Kingdom

Geetings, brothers and sisters. This is Dr. James Perry continuing with our series where we seek to
explore the deeper meanings of our relationship with Jesus Christ. Over the years, the heavenly
Father has revealed many revelations of spiritual truth to me, and I want to share them with you. This
morning we seek to understand the role of the body and mind in the Kingdom of Heaven.

And now, sit back and listen to today's message.

The Role of the Body and Mind in the Kingdom

"For the Kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace and joy in the
Holy Ghost." Romans, Chapter 14, verse 17

Brothers and sisters, it has often been said that we are the Father's hands, eyes, and ears. Indeed is
this true for this material of reality, for the Father is a spirit of love and is contingent upon us to
manifest himself in our material world through loving acts of service. We shall trace the spiritual
value from the spirit to the mind, to the manifestation of this value through the brain to the body.
While we do this we must keep in mind that the body, the physical mechanism, has no meaning for
the body.

The body is an material instrument and has no moral sense in and of itself. The body will do
whatever the mind directs it to do. Thus the body can be used to do good as well as evil. The body
has meaning for the mind, for the body is the mechanism whereby mind effects its will in the
material world. The mind itself has meaning. It is where the consciousness resides and is the essence
of meaning. It is the agency by which the values of the spirit are transmuted to the meanings of mind.
The spirit is value, and is the source of the values that the mind transmutes into meanings. Now the
material mechanism becomes the transmitter of the divine values to the material recipient who is
spirit indwelt and who then transmit these material manifestations that are grasped by the mind and
transmitted back to the spirit. This completes the cycle of the spiritual appeal to the individual

The spirit of the Father through the Spirit of Truth, the spirit of Jesus, residing in our minds and
souls, transmits the divine values to our mind. In this case we shall use the value of love since it is
the greatest of spiritual realities and truth, beauty, and goodness are derived from it, and
consequently all other spiritual values. The scene is set. The environment provides the setting; the
evolutionary process provides the need, and the divine spirit is poised to set the whole cycle in
motion. Let us look at a example that everyone is familiar with.

On September 11, 2000, our country was attacked by religious terrorists who flew commercial jet
planes into the World Trade Center, killing and wounding thousands. People were shocked by this
devastating attack and began praying for the Father's help. While some theologians and philosophers
debated the age old controversy of why bad things happen to good people and how could an infinite
and loving all powerful God allow this to happen to people who love and trust him, the spiritual
reality of the Father through His Son, Jesus, moved into action, filling the scene with love and mercy.
Immediately the spectacle of this disaster made a spirit appeal to individuals nearby, within contact
range. The eyes and ears of the body are the first to receive this spiritual stimulus being carried to
the brain, then the mind, and then to the spirit.

This stimulus for mercy and compassion, grace and love appeals to the divine spirit, who
immediately floods our consciousness with impulses of mercy, compassion, grace and love. The
values of love--truth, beauty, and goodness--also flood the consciousness of those who are sensitive
to this spiritual appeal. The mind becomes spiritually stimulated and is prepared to perform amazing
acts of courage in the face of danger and even death. None of these mortal fears can transcend the
now-activated spiritual impulses in the human mind.

As these impulses are transmitted into the meanings of the mind associated with the consciousness
of the tragedy now serving as a spiritual stimulus, the angels and other spiritual helpers swing into
action, mobilizing groups, and directing them to the scene to display divine mercy in their selfless
acts of courage and ministry. The angels also move to intensify the thoughts of divine significance
that have appeared in the minds of these divinely motivated humans. The wills of these humans
become divinely reinforced as the tragedy has caused such a supreme reaction in their minds and
souls that a temporary union of the divine spirit and the soul takes place, allowing the full spiritual
power of the Father through His Son to manifest.

Meanwhile these spiritual impulses now translated into the meanings of the mind began to manifest
themselves more completely through the body. The voice utters words of comfort, compassion, and
mercy, lending their spirit to support those in need. The eyes glow with empathy and compassion.
The ears are sensitive to the cries for mercy. The arms and legs began to move and interject
themselves into the tragedy. This motion takes the form of individuals eagerly joining the rescue
efforts, and bringing in food and other necessary items. The whole body becomes an instrument of
the divine spirit as these impulses of spirit are translated into material levels, with acts of mercy,
compassion, and love. It is a beautiful, true and good thing to behold, for those observing such a
phenomenon of the outpouring of the divine spirit. And those in the know cry, "Look at Jesus!"

Many are the acts of courageous ministry as people sacrifice their lives in an effort to rescue those
who are trapped. There is an air of love and mercy as these now activated sons and daughters of God
display Fatherly and brotherly love towards each other. People from far away are attracted to the
scene to help. Some are turned away as they are not needed for the moment. There is literally an
outpouring of material goods to be used in the aftermath of this tragedy. This is a wonderful display
of the Father through His Son in action, but sadly even in some of those who are involved in this
wonderful display of divine love and mercy, who are the very instruments the Father is using, failed
to recognize Him. Instead, they continued to pray unceasingly, pleading for His intervention. They
are slow to discern the Father's spirit in human affairs, not yet understanding that the Father is a spirit
of love in human affairs, and that the Father is spirit and must be worshiped in spirit and in truth.
They are slow to discern that this temporary human divine union brought about due to human tragedy
can be maintained in the absence of human tragedy, but alas most of us have not reached that level
of divine understanding yet.

This concludes today's message on understanding the role of the body and the mind in the Kingdom
of God. We hope you find something in this message to ponder and pray about as you go about your
day.

Until next time, this is Dr. James Perry.
